Thread: "Dixie Blue Steel"

I see alot of dixie's out there, in fact I have one in rotation right now. most of them just say dixie razor manufacturing, union city Ga on the tang. this one razor however reads "dixie blue steel" on the other side of the tang. Can anyone tell me about this particular model? I once had one that was lost.

I've got a "Blue Steel Special" by Kinfolks. Real good shaver. I've heard of the Dixie Razor Mfg but I don't know of that model. Japanese tools are made, IIRC, with blue steel and white steel. I don't think that USA razors from back in those days had any particular steel in mind when they named these models. I could be wrong though, I was wrong once before.

Can't help with the info, but I'll bet if you posted a photo that someone on this site could fill in the blanks.

the only thing i can find on the company is it was in business from 1920 to 1930

Dixie Razors have a good name and are good razors. It's my understanding that they are a bit scarcer than the other big US named razors of the era.

As for the "Blue Steel"? More than likely a gimmick to help sales like the older "Silver steels" that were touted in the mid 1800's.

Dixie Mfg co Union City GA. dindt find much info on this company, as far as blue steel i agree with Wullie just a gimmick or name given to a razor.
Definately found that they used Sheffield steel!

Back when people generally didn't lock their doors or have car alarms. Send the razor and if you like it pay the buck $.045 and keep the strop for free. Hard to believe these days. I remember when a glass bottle of Coca Cola was a nickel in the vending machine. There was a rack to put the empty or you could leave $.02 deposit in a can wired to the rack if you wanted to take the bottle with you. Long time ago.

And that glass bottle Coca Cola was tasting so good, much better then whats available today!
