Thanked: 116Sold my first razor!!! - Thanksgiving
While I have only been in the SR game for a few months, the wife encouraged me to part with a few of my blades. I procured a JR Torrey near wedge with a barbers notch and the slightest of smiles, 5/8 in excellent condition. I put some time and effort into cleaning it up. I took it up to 12k grit micromesh to get as near to mirror finish as I could do by hand. I don't have any tools yet so I'm stuck using my mits to do the dirty work.
So I polished her up and ran it on my stones. The shave, for me, was smooth and effortless; i feel the heavier grinds shave my beard better yet for some reason i'm drawn to a hollow style.
After two shaves my wife encouraged me to part with a few of my razors... women...
I posted it in the classifieds here and it was purchased within the hour along with an Abrams and Sons 5/8 Superwedge.
I just received an email today from the guy (he's a member here) that purchased the razor. This is how it read:
DOOD!!!!I just wanted to share this with everyone. Without all your tips, tricks, lessons both verbal and via video, and my buddy IronsideGNR, I wouldn't have the knowledge to even attempt what I call 'light restorations'.
You can buildup a pretty slick edge!!!
I Went ahead and did an early weekly shave this afternoon with the Torrey… wow! that thing is SMOOTH!!!! Just figured I would pass the info along, it shaves beautifully, thanks so much Jeremy!
Thanks to everyone on this forum for being so open, kind, insightful and pleasant. I've mentioned this before but this community really impresses me and the 'esprit de corps' here is second to none.
Cheers
