I have a pair of straight razors stamped "JOHN BROOKES" SHEFFIELD. I cannot find anyone who has seen these and all I can find is that John Brookes joined Thomas Crookes in 1858. Would anyone know where I might find more information?

Look up Brookes and Crookes. Highly regarded and sought after shavers. If my memory serves me correct, John Brookes is part of that team.
I stumbled across your question while researching a British WWII marlin spike jack knife. It was also stamped John Brooke's Sheffield on th e blade and 1943 on the opener. Were you able to trace John Brookes further? Presumably the same firm?
