7/8 Maestro Takeda AS Damascus

The courier guy rang my doorbell this morning just as I was finishing shaving the 2nd pass with my 8/8 Weyersberg, so I ran to the door still covered in Tabac lather and signed for a much awaited package from Italy. :D

And here it is, probably the last high end razor I will buy for a long time. A 7/8 Maestro Takeda AS Damascus with olive wood scales. :y

I had wanted to get one with mammoth ivory scales like Lynn's, but the price is just too steep for me at the moment with possible job changes in the New Year. So I went for a really good blade, on basic yet lovely scales. I guess I could get it re-scaled sometime in 2007 if circumstances improve with my job.

Anyway here are a couple of photo's, sorry they aren't the greatest of quality but you get the idea.

Well I'm planning to have my first shave with it tomorrow morning so I'm very much hoping it shaves as good as it looks, my other Maestro does so I don't expect this to be any different! :)

The scales, I think, look great with the blade, I wouldn't rescale them.

These are just the nicest razors out there. Every one has been origninal and beautiful and a good shaver and still you ask these questions......hahahahahaha. Keep em coming.........

The edges are easy to maintain and if not perfect when you get them, pretty close. The Maestro's work is brilliant and I am proud to represent him here in North America.

I gave it a quick test shave just now and I can confirm that Lynn is not losing his sanity, this is a great shaver indeed!

I love the look of the Takeda blade, the core of high carbon steel (of which the shaving edge is made out of) stands out very clearly from the surrounding damascus. I haven't tried honing this yet, there's no need to for quite a while I should think.

FYI I did a bit of a review of this razor over on B&B if anyone (particularly Lynn) is interested. Lynn, prepare for lots of enquiries! :o :roflmao

I have spotted the flaw in your logic: :D

However I knew that Maestro Livi has a small quantity of special steel which he imports from Japan, so I decided I'd try and get a razor made from this while it's still available

There will always be 'last of a kind' items, even if the previous 'last of a kind' items are indeed gone.
As long as you are interested because something is the last of its kind, there will never be an end to your RAD.
