    Default Got my Hart today

It was nowhere near shave ready. I didnt expect it to be as I ordered from Hart directly. I noticed when honing from my 12k where i started that the blade did not sit perfectly flat on the stone. The edge and heal were raised about 1/16th inch and the blade contact to the stone was in the middle of the blade. I was able to get a good edge on it going through my Naniwas using rolling x strokes but it could be sharper. I will probably send it off anyway but anyone have any advice on this?

Is it a slightly smiling blade ? If the razor's contact with the hone is the same on either side it isn't a warp. Post a photo if you have a chance.

My Hart came shave ready and had a bit of a smile (which I prefer). Honing a smiling blade takes a bit of experience.

Its def not warped. There is a slight smile to it. I got it very sharp and got a BBS on my sides, chin, neck, and everywhere else except under the jawline which was close enough. I still want it sharper though. Im gonna watch Glens video on honing a smiling blade.

Of the two Harts I honed, one was easily honed by being very respectful in the use of tape. Its so close to a wedge that any off-center tape will have you working a new bevel w/ each change of tape.

The other was a nice smiling blade that was honed as if it were straight. A bit of grinding on heel & toe to restore the smile and it shaved as a Hart should - wonderfully.

Should you decide to have 'er done, I'll gladly do for just the shipping. There's a few gents on the forums that could speak for the edges.

I watched glens video on honing a smiling wedge and am gonna give it another shot when my cosera comes in. Ill use tape this time too. It shaves very good off my initial hone but i feel like i can get that little extra out of it
