When I decided to go down this straight razor road I bought a new Dovo from Classicshaving.com and I was thrilled with how it shaved and then I bought a razor from a local shop that had Shefield steel and then I won a razor (H. Boker) off ebay that was new NOS. What amazes me is that the two older razors are better shavers than the new Dovo, and I mean by a long shot. Is this a common finding? I shaved tonight for the first time with this Boker and I really didn't have to do second pass, I did because I wanted to see how this new razor would handle it but I really didn't need to.
These findings just seem to go against what one would think is normal.
I would think the newer razor should out perform the vintage blades but this isnt the way it is. How do companies expect to sell new product if they don't make it good enough to compete with the older razors?
Im just scratching my head
