    Default Gotta Super Fine 120

I purchased this Gotta at least over ½ a year ago and I only just got around to honing it up and shaving with it.

I purchased it from an antique shop down country for only $25.00 which I think is a very good price.

Antique shop prices seem to be all over the place for razors, I saw a razor the same as this without the etching on the reverse in pretty bad shape even further down country in a antique shop for over $100, what the hell.

An excellent shaver and I think it is the most hollow grind razor I own and have used, not that I have many razors.

    My question to you:

Is it an extra full hollowed grind razor or a standard full hollow?

Unfortunately I found it difficult to capture the hollowness of the blade.

    Thanks!

That looks like a really nice razor; nice find. Can't help you with your question though since I'm still very new to the Wonderful World of Straight Razors.

I can't really tell from the photo but if you put the flat of your thumbnail against one side of the blade and gently push a full hollow will flex a bit. Also if you hold the razor in one hand, flick your thumbnail across the very end of the point as if striking a guitar string a full hollow will ring. A 3/4 hollow or thicker won't.

On that flexing. I mean at the edge and in the center. You don't need to push hard at all if it is an extra hollow. Had to post again because the edit ain't working on my linux box. (shrug)

I think those GOTTA 120's were a variation of the bellied hollow. The blade is a bit thicker near the edge.

    They're great razors.

My 6/8ths Gotta 120 sings nicely. It's one of my favorite razors.

I also have a Gotta just like that. It's an excellent razor, in the top tier of my rotation. The scales on mine are celluloid and the ones on yours should be also.
