W.Pepys, most likely mid 19th century
W.Pepys most likely from mid 19th century. Scales made from "I" material. Images below - Veterinary fleam by the same manufacturer.

From what I have been able to find, the more defined heal of the blade showed up post 1800. And a more pronounced heal kicked in around the late 1820's.
Very interesting piece, I've been looking into a wall display of the timelines of razor production.

Sorry to dredge up an old thread but I was doing a little research on my W.Pepys razor and found some interesting info. This link to a couple pages in Google books Pg. 98 is a little bibliography of William Haseldine Pepys (1775-1856). It explains, among other things, that he followed his father into the cutlery and surgical instrument business. A lot more info than I can usually find about a razor maker so I thought I'd share.

The fact that W. Pepys went on and made a name for himself in the sciences really wows me. For some reason I admire people who have made extreme career changes. I'd love to find one of his razors.

A article I wrote (mostly in English) about this very scarce and interesting razor maker how was a well known scientist and chemist of his time !
