Is this blade ok?

Hello. I'm seriously considering the switch and am looking at a vintage Boker online. Cosmetically, the blade clearly leaves something to be desired but I don't mind a bit of character. I am, however, concerned that the blade might not be safe to use. I'd like to get some input from experienced eyes. (I'm also curious about the tree insignia being off center.) The pictures aren't very good but I'm working with the seller to get better ones.

Look in the classifieds for a used shave ready blade if you are trying to get started on a tight budget; lots of guys post there, and will work with you. The blade has a frown in the edge, and will have to be honed by someone who has done that kind of honing before; otherwise they will only make it worse. It definitely would have to have any surface rust removed, and be polished and sanitized. One of the pins looks to be in bad shape too, which means more tools and material to get the razor repinned so it will open and close properly. I say save you money and check the ads here, or buy new from one of the online vendors as it will come shave ready as well.

That razor has had a hard life and it shows. If I was looking for a big project razor that would fit the bill. otherwise I would pass on it.

One point to make for the future ...... the 'tree' stamp being off center is not unusual at all. Back in the old days they weren't as concerned about that sort of thing as we are nowadays. I have had a Case Bros Little Valley NY pocketknife (early 1900s) that had part of the tang stamp missing because it was that off center. They never thought people would do more than pay the buck or two these things cost back then and use them.
