I didn't lose it by going to the cr0. I lost it by going back to the DMT for a few passes and then back to the blue + coticule.

Followed your advice. I honed the razor on the DMT without tape and then added two (tried with one and it didn't do much) layers of tape did 18 more passes on the dmt and then proceeded...

I forgot to mention that the bevel on the razor is rather large and that the razor was honed with one layer of tape..Would removing the tape or adding some change anything?
