I think this is huge factor. It took me a long time to develop a good enough technique to compensate for my heavy beard. Softer steel is more vulnerable from my experience.

IMHO WB wedges are great candidates for a double...
IMHO WB wedges are great candidates for a double taped spine micro bevel. It gives the softer sheffield steel a bit more strength and it is a quick touch up vs moving a pound of metall off the blade...
