You can't be saying just plain ol' heated water,...
You can't be saying just plain ol' heated water, can you? Brine, I can see, but plain water would allow the creation of a vapor jacket around the blade, slowing down the quench and rendering it...

Pretty good information, so I'll just add a bit about stainless. I really don't recommend anything other than the CPM steels for razors. They have a finer grain structure than the "normally"...
