Why would you lap the crack until is gone if it is not catching? I would prefer to try it first after normal laping, evaluate and then decide if it is good for me and razors or something else.

I would be more worried if it would hold together than catching. I would not be too surprised that after decent lapping ther would be no issue whatsoever.
