Now I'm getting really curious. so what about...
Now I'm getting really curious. so what about boiling water? is that too hot? I wouldn't think so but you guys are frightening me.
With regards to cooling the blade, is it safe to cool a hot blade... -

But that would mean that even 100 centigrade...
But that would mean that even 100 centigrade would be dangerous. A lot of people use boiling water to sanitize their blades. Or is this part of the 'overly conservative' ?

Hi,
so when you clean/sand a blade, the temperature can potentially get pretty high.
At what temperature does the metal actually start to change its properties
?
