You cannot compare a Mach 3 blade with a straight. Mach 3 blades are coated with a hard substance that increases the useful life of the edge.

I have got the 0.125 micron paste.

@ Kalerolf: if were happy with the diamond paste I would stick with it. If you like to experiment buy the CBN.

I never had problems with the edge. Members here use diamond pastes of similar grit size w/o problems.

There's lots of speculation going on as to what stropping exactly does. Prof Verhoeven did lots of experiments but could not find any noticeable effect of stropping. That does not mean it does...
