Update: Recipe 3 works really well for me. I shave, cold water rinse, splash on either recipe 1 or 2, let it dry, and follow up with recipe 3. Works well in an empty Mennen Afta squeeze bottle.

Recipe 2 turned out more pungent than I had anticipated. It smells good, but it is a pretty strong spice smell. If I did it again, I'd probably go with a lighter rum and fewer cloves.
