Hmm...this stone, after cleaning appears to be a big chunk of Dalmore Yellow. Same coarseness and 'peaty' smell when lapped. I will work on it some more to be sure.

Well...with the help of a couple friends, my suspicions point towards the possibility of a turkish oilstone...but of course, i wont know, until i have it in my hot big hands. :-)
