Hi there, I think your current routine should be fine. From what I have learnt it is the castor oil that does the cleansing, the other oils are carrier agents and conditioners.

Soap, by nature, strips oils from the skin. The OCM is a cleansing method that also conditions the skin.

The castor oil is the key, it is a mild humectant.

Echo that!! The oils do not do anything to the beard bristles, they are there to clean and condition the skin. I apply a dime sized amount in the shower & rinse it off after about a minute or so....
