I have the 4K, 8K, and the 16K, lapped them all with some 600 grit wet or dry. No problems at all, as a matter of fact, they took very little lapping.

If one got into the Shapton Glass hones, would a GDLP be necessary? That is a lot of cash to drop on one stone. Can anything else be used to lap them? I have been seriously looking at the 16K...

Thanks for clearing that up! I don't know where I got the idea that it was a diamond stone.

Do the glass stones need lapping? I really can't see why they would with such a thin layer of diamonds on the glass.
