I find it almost tacky how Makers Mark has gone to a twist off lid.

That sounds very interesting, I will try to get my local package store to get me a bottle. I prefer a higher abv as I like mine on a couple cubes...but this may be one to refrigerate for me.

Science experiment: 1 bottle of Everclear, diluted to 120 proof, 1.5 cups charred and toasted white oak chips. Started 7/30. Within an hour i was noticing color change.

An update for you guys...if you try the chip method, check your product every day after week 1. I may have over oaked about a gallon. I eill proof it down to 95, maybe that will help.

On making your own toasting chips: roast it at 375 ti 400 F for an hour, then take a torch and toast/char it light, medium, or heavy.

You guys are talking my language now. A fast way to oak some "clear liquor" is toasted oak chips. 2 cups of Jack Daniels oak barrel chips toasted and 1/4 cup of maple in a half gallon for a month or...

Yep, Woodford on "a" rock. A little for tone and a little for the cooling effect. I am bringing something special too...it's being run through the carbon now...

On the rocks is how i like mine over 50%.

That's the way I was. I like makers mark, just not the 46. I finished it of course :)

I love how different we all are. The sweet is why I finished the bottle and won't buy another. I like plane old Makers Mark & anything that has a nutty & vanilla undertone...just not much on sweet....
