I'm sure that several generations of metals have occurred in the research of turbine blades since twenty years ago. Steels, by default, are much to heavy and low tech for good engines any more.

The original influence on the use of ATS-34 and 154CM were as steels that would handle the higher temperatures needed in aircraft turbine engines. They make fine blades.
