Wouldn't it be possible to use a diamond tipped...
Wouldn't it be possible to use a diamond tipped scratch pen to scratch the glass length wise and then snap it like you would do with floortiles?
How sure are we that the glass is actually tempered... -

If I had a 15 mm thick hone, I'd
- cut it in half through from side to side, and end up with 2 7 mm thick hones.
- Mount them on a backing using epoxy.
- Lap both

If all else fails, you can always chamfer the...
If all else fails, you can always chamfer the edges to the extreme so that you end up with a 1" wide honing surface on a 3" wide glass plate. :)

How much would the cheapest usable hone cost? Say...
How much would the cheapest usable hone cost? Say 1000 grit?
If we all chip in 5 or 10$, we buy a hone for the experiment, and if it succeeds, the 2 hones are raffled among the participants.
