    With my stereo microscope I have observed what appeared to be rounding of a bevel from abrasive paste on a strop.
    As I think about it now, it could simply be rounding of the back side of the bevel...

    Just to clarify my above posts: neither convex bevels or concave hones are desirable, in my opinion.
