You could file the end of nail (or bolt, or any length of round metal) round and use that as a punch. Ten minutes of filing and block of wood and you are in bluishness.

Ball bearings and lead block sound like a good idea. I used to use a rounded nail and the end grain of a hard wood block to dome washers.
