Perhaps I am misunderstanding what a slurry is; a mix of the water and the particles of the hone itself, suspended in the water?

I have an Aloxite #79 and I have been told that it is a great barber's hone. I need to become more skilled with the whole honing process before I understand exactly where this stone fits in....
