The steel is good enough, but the quality control is a lottery. If you get a good one its great value, mine needed some work before I could hone it properly but now its a great little shaver.

My Gold Dollar (which is the only one I can speak about) takes a great edge. I have 10 straights and the GD is mid range in the shave it gives, all my others are vintage. It did need modifying before...
