This may be true and I can't attest to the fact...but the true colouring of any bourbon, whiskey or scotch comes from the barrels they were aged in. So it may indeed be a marketing ploy to adjust...

If you can turn a beer bottle into a drinking glass then why wouldn't you be able to do the same with a whiskey bottle? They're both glass :shrug:

Very good advice, there are alot of snobs out there who act as though ice is blasphemy. I will use ice in my cheaper scotches as I find it cools them, obviously (I don't care for room temp Scotch)...
