Also..don't use the Alum.The witch hazel will work as an astringent and toner just as well. The Alum will set you on fire.

Just another thought.How much glycerin did you use and was there glycerine in the soap prior to adding ? I have seen on some of these threads that glycerine will dry out skin if there is too much....

I just can't bring myself to do a hot water shave...
I just can't bring myself to do a hot water shave anymore.I like Mick get the same results when doing hot water.Cold feels more soothing to me now and along with Mitchells wool fat and some Ogallala...
