I have done it with 5 minute epoxy, but 20 minute would have been better. It is tricky indeed, I can understand why everyone is buying it pre-glued :)

I used a ferric cloride solution, I am still experimenting with it though. About 15 minutes in the etch gave an almost black and thick surface layer.

The Dragon Slayer
Here is a razor I recently finished, I gave the name "Dragon Slayer" to it, in my opinion it suits it pretty well :)
7/8 from O1 steel 62HRC, the blade has been etched black, scales are red...
