After a lot more stropping, both on the leather and also on some newspaper on the edge of a table, things seem to be a bit better. I was able to shave my whole face and even go ATG in a small area...

That's the video I mentioned in the post above, and I did indeed find it very helpful in improving my "flipping"' action at the ends of the stroke.
