can you state your source's for this info. i can only find one mineral slate and thuringians share and thats quartz

i use one of the paddle hones for knives and it works great the other stones from I.J and AJ i can shave of the stone all in all slate is one of my favorite sharpening/honing stones

eschers aren't slate. there is no quartz in slate. the quartz in eschers is a powder like quartz. these two stones are very different stones and are composed of different minerals
