It seems to be genuine leather, very thin. It is in great condition and soaked up an application of leather conditioner.
It is still pliable on the hinge and at the button to open...

Indeed, I suppose this interesting thread, enhanced by Neil Miller, has inspired me to include my pair of Drew and Son razors as well as a horn/ivory brush from the Piccadilly Circus establishment.
