I have heard of people using tape at the base of the knot to stiffen the bristles but that would allow/hide the buildup of soap so I don't think that is a good idea.

After reading this thread I find it amazing that no one is wondering what kind of "soap" is being used on said brush.

Some so called soaps make my skin feel slimy. If I used them I can imagine...
