I would not lap a Carborundum under 1000 grit. I think there is a chance of dislodging the DMT diamond grit. I actually try to stay away from any Carborundum lapping. I've lapped about 15+ barber...

I used one on the back of a barber hone, a year ago, not sure if it did any good or not. Got a good shave though. :shrug:

It's difficult to wear out your DMT on the hones that you are discussing. I have a DMT that has been used on 1000 grit Carborundums, barber hones, a hard Arkansas, no problem. I was actually worried...

If they were cut long ways it might be O.K. for an experienced honer, but working a razor on a 1 1/2 stroke surface, for a beginner is a bit of a task.
