I use an alum bar right after the shave, let sit for 5 minutes,,,, dab off with wet towel,,,, then heavy with witch hazel,,, then let it dry,,, then comes the Pinaud. ;)

For a preshave I swear by this stuff,,, light clean scent , not oily, washes off easy,,, raises the whiskers,
