I use the DMT's that stain on my PHIGS, Zulu's & Silkveins because I can't see the stain.

SRNewb,,, I think we have two problems here;

1. The Arie oil stone residue is easily removed with many of the solutioned mentioned.

2. The problem I have is not old from an India or old Arkie,...

Tried Simple green,,,,,, I will have a set of photo results in a few.

Forgot to mention I have the DMT cards also. I will slurry a 4/8 in a few,,, then tell you what I see.

I have not found a problem with the stain interfering with the cutting of the stone.

I have tried many different cleaners on the two problem DMT's with limited success.

I can say that the gray left by the DMT's on my waterstones, is stain & not swarf. But I hate to see stain on my 4/8 Norton.

The oven cleaner works also, I have done that,,, non-scented is less toxic. I prefer the WD because its cheaper for me than the oven cleaner.

WD-40 will clean it off , with a paper towel soaked in dish soap to follow. I use my DMT's regularly on India oils stones to remove swarf,,, then I have to push the oil off my DMT.
