I do something similar, my rotation is on the bathroom counter wrapped in handkerchiefs. After a while the mineral oil spreads into the handkerchief, it's humid here, no rust problems.

After each shave , I use a Q-Tip soaked in mineral oil to rub all over the blade ; I let a drop fall on the pivot. I think this pushes whatever water is there, out.

I have no pivot problems....
