Actually wood harvesting in this local was allowed after a big storm came thru the santa cruz mtns.
You could only take downed, tagged trees.
We would scour the areas around loma preita for madrone...

Madrone is the same way, dry it will also throw sparks,made a world of diff when I got a carbide toothed chain for my huskys.
Your Wandoo must be similar to madrone about 3200 lbs/cord dry.

Problem I had was,I had to buy cordwood than split it all into stovewood,big differance.
Also both stoves had cat convertors so softwood of any kind was out of the question.

Only a blue green,if you use a yellowish esher, you will roll the edge for sure on anything more than poplar or pine/fir.
For real dry oak,Hickory,madrone,I find a Charnley used with sperm whale oil...

If the only use is splitting firewood,I use a fine mill file,is such a thing as oversharpening a camp axe.
