Good suggestion. SiC is the preferred method for novaculite that can be honed flat (I have used hard roller at the end of a belt sander when more is needed than hand lapping).

I haven't used a gokumyo, but biggs and owyhee jasper take the cake for me in hone hardness. They make ozuku stones look like king stones.
