There is so much variable that i dont know anymore, i do know for a fact that my stone, whatever is it named, works for me,
i get a better finish then the PHIG, almost mirror finish, and a smooth...

In talking with AJ an ebay seller from the UK who sells LLyn Melynllyn stones im pretty sure that what my stone is,
he was saying some of them can go up to 15k so it would make sense that its finer...

Thats very close for sure, in comparing with you others stone what would you say the grit of this stone is?

So once again i tested another razor did 25 x strokes on PHIG and looked under 30x loupe then did 25 x strokes on new hone,
and once again the new hone removed the PHIG scratch patern...

By touch, feeling the 8k, then Phig then new hone, the phig and new hone are very very close and the 8k is definately coarser.

Well thats not the case since i have a norton 8k and the PHIG is much finer then the Norton for sure.

Well i was almost sold that my stone is a yellow lake but i must say that im possitive that its much finer then 8 k without a doubt.
its finer then my Phig wich is suppose to be 12 k, so its back to...

Well that would be nice!! i guess the only way to tell if it is would be for somebody to send me a razor hone on an escher
and do a few laps on my hone and see if i can improved the scratch patern...

Yes thats was my first pick as well but did you ever see a LLyn MelyLLyn with green inclusions like on this stone?
ive looked at a lot of them and never saw any with them on it.

By the way this hone weight in at 2 lbs 9 oz or 1160 kg.

I think the correct name for a brown escher / thuri is Vosgiennes

Another update, i recently purchased a Thiers Issard from the art of chave with stainless steel scales the original buyers didnt like the heavy scales, he bought it and sent it out to be honed by ...

Update after the lapping was all done i took a shave ready razor, looked at the edge under magnification and did 20 strokes on this hone and looking under the 30X loupe definately and improvement...

Clean up the sides today and i can see that these green inclusions go from the side to the top of hone like a vein.
