This was the first thing I noticed. They will not affect its performance since you have lapped it with a finer grit sandpaper, and after some honing they will disappear. And don't be disappointed...

It is supposed to be very fine, used with oil if it's the black Czech slate, but I haven't bought one yet. If you have a C12k, or a coticule or any fine hones, compare the edge it leaves with them.
