My source of chert is colorful but very fractured and there can be voids.

However, some of the fractures are stable and not toxic at all. You almost have to study it like a diamond before...

Grab up what you can of the chert, I've had good results with my source of it.

It is a sickness! Let us know when you invest in a wetsaw, You'll be eyeing everything then.

With that coloration, it could be a nephrite jade. Might be worth taking to the geology dept.
I have a nephrite jade and it is a finisher. It is more green than the photo shows also.

Now you've got me thinking, I'll post pics if I come up with a good solution.

I'm thinking of trying a diamond cup wheel to knock off the high spots on one of the quartzites.

My first finisher was an Owhyhee Jasper, roughly 2 x 4 inches. You've got some good size on that one.

I've had thoughts down that line also, and a saw bigger than 10 inches would be nice too.

This is a trim piece from my latest Sioux Quartzite project, 2 more cuts then lots of SIC.
The darkest one so far, it will probably be my last Sioux stone, unless I find a local business to cut...

If it is Sioux Quartzite, it is a hard, hard rock! Good luck with it.
