I would imagine it was an acid etch of some type w/resist. As to what mixtures of what types, I've no clue.
Kind of doubt elektrickery was used very often if at all at that stage in the game. -

Found this darlin on the bay. It's BARELY an 8/8 but it's there. Edge needs work and pretty sure it's be rescaled at some point in time. Doesn't appear to have been used much and has held up nicely...
