I would have thought the chips were from the pattern in the cloth underneath the razor. That is one reason I try not to use fluffy materials to set a razor on when taking pictures.

If I see an ad with only pictures of one side I usually assume that there is something wrong with the other that they don't want to show. Granted that isn't always the case, but sometimes its better...
