I face lather so I add water as I go while lathering, no bowl in between. A damp brush and a single drop of water seems kind of light on the water to me. Not every soap/cream responds the same way...

I have heard that CF creams are on the thirsty side. I have their lavender cream and I think that might be true. Possibly try adding more water a bit at a time.
