Thanks for the reply. Interesting on the size stamping the blade being slightly larger. I guess they measured size from the edge to where the spine contacts the hone and not the top of the spine....

There were chips in the edge and some corrosion near the bevel. It took a bit of work on the 1K Naniwa to cure that and set the bevel. The rest of the progression, 3K/8K/12K Naniwas, followed by 15...

Thanks and watch for it in tomorrow's SOTD. I think it is honed.

Out of curiosity does your 6/8 measure larger edge to top of spine and does it have Solingen or Germany stamped on it?

Got this locally today and gave it a quick polish. There are still some spots that could be removed by sanding but I think I'll just tighten the pivot and see if she takes an edge before I get too...
