Try another linen strop, perhaps your strop has something on it, or too much pressure.

Just because you cannot see a chip at low magnification does not mean it does not exist. Run a sharpie lightly on the edge, if you can feel it with the sharpie you will feel it on your face.

Add a layer of tape and ink the edge, by running a sharpie on the edge lightly. Colored ink red or blue is easier to see.
