Unlike crox, it seems to me that you can't over do it with the lead.

I agree with wolfpack, need to try on a razor that is shaving ok, also load strop and leave till it turns white. I think as it oxidises it works better.

Most people of our era have been exposed to lead from paint to petroleum running our cars, I don't think it affects the memory..... Have misplaced my chunk of lead anyway, so not to worry... Off to...

Just make sure you wipe the blade after the lead strop. The symptoms of excessive lead are.... Umm..... Yeah.... Memory loss.... Umm... and.... something else... can't remember....

Been using it on the back of a roo strop I made for a month or so with good results. Worth a try for sure.
