Well, excessive hone wear is typical when you get a blade that isn't holding an edge. The first reaction is to grind away trying to establish a bevel. It's not always easy to know what to do.

When a razor isn't holding its edge, a more blunt angle can help to stabilize it. I suspect you will want to add at least two layer of tape. You don't need to grind away at a low grit at this point....

I'll let the experts offer guidance but the bevel looks a little wide. Perhaps you might add a layer or two of tape and give it a microbevel for some added strength.

My sample size with Dovo is rather small, three razors. But my conclusions were the same as yours.
