Yeah might as well try that if it's going to be sent off anyway, but let that be the very last thing you try. Possibly incorrect stropping on leather is bad, possibly incorrect stropping on compound...

That was the case for me. I don't think my stropping damaged a razor per se, but it probably needed a touch up a lot sooner than it might have.
